splinter指的是木头、玻璃、塑料等的“尖细条，尖碎片”。

如果你的手被扎了，可以说“I got/had a splinter”。

另外，splinter可以表示“裂成碎片”：

The danger is that the Conservative Party may splinter into several smaller political parties.

危险在于保守党可能会分裂成几个小的政党。

2. sensitive

很喜欢这里对sensitive的翻译，我们知道玻璃心指自己的心像玻璃一样易碎，用来形容敏感脆弱的心理状态，经不起批评指责或者嘲讽。

这和sensitive的“易被冒犯的；敏感的”这个意思是完美对应的。补充一下sensitive的其他意思吧。

①（话题、形势等）敏感的，须谨慎对待的：

Sex education is a sensitive issue.

性教育是一个敏感的话题。

②善解人意的；体贴的；体谅的：

In the movie, he plays a concerned and sensitive father trying to bring up two teenage children>在影片中，他扮演了一个关怀备至、体贴入微的父亲，努力独自抚养两个十几岁的孩子。

③娇嫩的；脆弱的；敏感的

Some people's teeth are highly sensitive to cold.

一些人的牙齿对寒冷高度敏感。

④（仪器）灵敏的

The patient's responses are recorded>病人的反应由一台灵敏仪器记录下来，该仪器能显示出极其精确的读数。

3. punch out

punch的意思是“按，敲击（按钮或键）”，既然punch out是打卡下班，那punch in就是“上班打卡”咯。

要注意的是，punch sth in和打卡无关，意思是“（用键盘或按钮等）将信息输入计算机”。

在你输入信用卡号码之前好好想一下。
