过去的七天假期让25岁的上海人刘依薇(音译)感到精疲力竭。她不是去旅行也没有加班,而是在各地之间奔忙,准备好一叠叠钞票来应对“红色炸弹”。
上文中的red bombs(红色炸弹)指wedding invitation card(婚礼请柬),因请柬为红色,收到请柬一般都要破费,所以俗称“红色炸弹”。被红色炸弹“炸”到的人就要准备好给新婚夫妇的gift money(礼金),俗称份子钱。如今随着80后一代纷纷到了prime marriage age(适婚年龄),一到marriage season(结婚旺季)“红色炸弹”多得让人望而生畏。
原来举办婚礼的新人因为收到的礼金超过婚礼花销,所以通常办婚礼还能赚钱,但现在随着物价的上涨,婚庆市场也全面涨价,请wedding announcer(婚礼主持人)和bridal makeup artist(新娘化妆师)都要花不少钱,办wedding banquet(婚宴)花销更是不小。
