(Scientists Endorse Climate Change Report)
Scientists and climate change experts from around the world have agreed that the world has the technology and money to manage the effects of global warming, but that it must act now to prevent disasters.
Delegates from the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change formally endorsed a report Friday in Bangkok after five days of intense talks. Officials from more than 100 countries say the world must act immediately to cap the global temperature increase at two degrees Celsius.
Negotiations on the report lasted longer than expected because of disagreement between rich and poor countries. The costs of reducing greenhouse gasses that cause global warming was one of the biggest disputes, with China the leading voice of concern about the economic impact of cutting back.
Countries such as the United States and China -- the world's top two greenhouse gas producers -- say a proposed cap on emission levels could be too costly to implement.
